The Studio Flat at Hammamhane — the exposed orange-brick feature wall behind the bed, the dining table and small kitchenette beyond.

Studio Flat

30 m² · up to 2 guests · 1 walk-in bath

Brick, oak, and a small espresso machine

A neat studio in the heritage building. Every surface earns its place.

The Studio Flat is the smaller of the two studios in the heritage building — thirty square metres, single open room, an exposed-brick feature wall behind the bed that we kept the way the restoration team found it: warm orange Ottoman brick, the lime mortar still visible between the courses. It is the wall most guests photograph on the first morning. We have stopped being surprised by this.

The kitchenette is compact but real — an induction hob, a half-fridge that fits two days of groceries, an espresso machine, a small sink, and enough oak shelving for a breakfast service for two. The dining table doubles as the work surface; it is the kind of room that does not waste a centimetre, designed for two travellers who like to make their own coffee and would rather spend the saved money on lunch at Mangerie or dinner up the hill at Karaköy Lokantası.

The bathroom sits at the far end behind a frosted-glass partition — a compact walk-in shower in pale marble, the same brass fittings the building uses throughout. In-room laundry is tucked behind a folding door beside the entrance, and underfloor heating runs under the whole flat on a single thermostat by the bed.

It is the room we suggest for a couple on a city break of three to five nights, who wants the convenience of a small apartment without the size or rate of the bigger residences. Outside the door is Çukurcuma — the antique shops, the small galleries, the patient feeling that the century before is still here. The Studio Flat is exactly the room for stepping out into it.
